PM2.5 and PM10 Severe readings - Help!

For the past week the PM2.5 and PM10 readings have been off the scale, ie >999ug/m3 (severe) on our Dyson Pure Hot & Cool. We had a decorator in recently but is this normal a week later? We have had windows open and good breeze blowing through but there’s been no change in the reading: it’s still off the scale. 
 

Any ideas anyone?
