What data source(s) are used to report external air quality in Australia | Dyson Community

I’m located in a outer suburb of Melbourne, Australia, and am wondering how accurate is the reported outdoor air quality.

Anyone know what data source(s) Dyson relies on to produce these statistics?

Hi @loryn

Thank you for posting a question.

We acquire outdoor air quality and weather data from 3rd parties, which enables us to provide all of our Dyson Link App users with a common standard on Air Quality (AQ). We regularly review our data sources to check we’re serving the most accurate data available to users at any given time.

To read more about outdoor Air Quality (AQ) in the App, when on the home screen of your registered Air Treatment machine, scroll up and click on the ‘AQI’ result. This will take you through to an overview screen which explains the ‘Air Quality scale’. By scrolling to the bottom of this screen and selecting ‘Learn more about air quality’ you will be taken to the local government site where you can then read about the ‘Air Quality Index’ in more detail.

I hope this helps to answer your question.

Thanks,

Stuart

Thanks for the answer, Stuart.

I tried the link you suggested. It took me to the ACT Health website; but I’m located in Victoria, a different jurisdiction entirely.

I would kind of expect Dyson to be using Victorian EPA measures of air quality in Victoria. Is this likely correct?

Hi @loryn

Your more than welcome.

As the URL changes based on the ‘Home location’ settings in the App, I am not entirely sure where all the links direct to globally. I’ll reach out our Cloud team highlighting your feedback and ask they look into making a change to this link, should it be needed.

If there is any other feedback you wish to provide, please do let me know.

Thanks,

Stuart
