Fault in cordless vacuum | Dyson Community
Skip to main content

Hi, my dyson cordless vacuum has an issues;  the vacuum thinks there is a blockage in the suction pipe and will not turn on properly, there is nothing trapped inside any part of the vacuum

Hi @PeterQ,

Thanks for letting us know about this - it’s most likely an issue that’s easily resolved. So we can help you troubleshoot, can you let us know which model of Dyson cordless vacuum you own? If you’re not sure, we should be able to identify it if you can share a clear photo of your machine.

Thanks Jack it’s a V12 DETECT SLIM ANIMAL

Hi @PeterQ

In lieu of Jack’s reply, have you read the following articles:

If neither of these help, I’d suggest following a process of elimination. Remove each component (cleaner head, wand/tools) testing the vacuum function at each stage. This will help you to identify where the issue lies. A replacement part or warranty claim can then be requested from Dyson.

David.

Hi @PeterQ,

Thanks for letting us know which model you own. As @DavidTaylor has said, it’s worth double-checking your machine once again just to ensure nothing’s been missed. There could be an obstruction just out of sight somewhere like the bin inlet or the neck of your motorised floor tool:

If you haven’t washed the filter recently, this could also be a factor. In normal domestic use, it should be washed monthly using warm water without detergent, and allowed to air-dry fully for 24-48 hours.

If you’re confident all these steps have been followed and you’re still having difficulties with your machine, our experts would be happy to help. If a replacement part is needed, they’ll be able to confirm if this is covered under your free 2-year guarantee.

Head to Dyson.co.uk - once you’ve opened the Dyson Digital Assistant you’ll be able to click the agent icon in the bottom left of the chat window to start a Live Chat session with one of our Experts.

Hope this helps!
