Hi Everyone,

I’ve just got my new plum jasper Airwrap I.D and I’m finding my hair is twisting up up tight whilst curling onto the long barrel, after the hair soon goes straight, unlike the hair that curled flat and didn’t twist as it curled. My hair is very long, but I’m finding this is happening on my right side, hair curling away from my face. What am I doing wrong? I had the original Airwrap with the long slim barrels I purchased separately so I’m used to curling my hair using the airwrap, I don’t remember my hair twisting before? I’m disappointed by the results.

Hi @HellsbellsUK,

Welcome to the Dyson Community, and thanks for letting us know about this.

We understand your concern with your new plum jasper Airwrap I.D. Here are a few tips to help you get better results:

  1. Ensure your hair is prepped: Make sure your hair is about 80% dry before using the Airwrap. If it's too wet, it may not curl properly.

  2. Use the correct barrel direction: For curling away from your face, ensure the arrows on the barrel point away from your face on each side.

  3. Section your hair: Divide your hair into manageable sections. This can help ensure even curling and prevent twisting.

  4. Tension and hold: When curling, hold the end of your hair and let the Airwrap wrap your hair around the barrel. Ensure there's enough tension and hold it for a few seconds before releasing.

  5. Cold shot to set curls: After curling, use the cold shot button to set the curls in place before letting them go.

  6. Products can help: Consider using a lightweight styling mousse or setting spray to help the curls hold longer.

Since this issue seems to be more prevalent on the right side, make sure you're using the barrel intended for that side. I hope these tips help improve your experience with the Airwrap.

Thank you Jannat for your helpful prompt reply. I am doing all of the above, including using a setting lotion that is holding the other side well. I will persevere with it, my hair is waist length so perhaps it’s struggling, though the left isn’t, I’ll try turning it the other way and see if that helps? Thanks for your help, it’s much appreciated 😊
