I read this post in the forums a few days back»  And it mainly discusses the differences between the V6 and the V15 based on product specifications. As someone doing this for a living, I feel that there’s more nuance in comparing vacuums rather than just relying on manufacturer specifications.For example, the post states that the run time of the V10 to V15 models is 60 minutes, which isn’t entirely accurate since the newer models use newer battery technology that runs further.The V10, for instance, exceeded the 60 minute run time claim, but with the crevice tool. Stick a nozzle and that number goes down to around 41+ minutes give or take.The V15 Detect ran for more than 80 minutes during my tests with the laser slim roller, and over 56 minutes with the standard nozzle in the lowest setting.Power difference between the V8 and V10 isn’t as signifcant as the numbers suggest and this is backed up with the cleaning experiments.I’ve tested all these products extensively » And here’s a post o

Purchasing Advice - V15 Detect Absolute + (Gold) vs V15 Detect Extra

Hi everyone. Wondering if the community can help me out here please?I am looking to upgrade my current cordless dyson to a V15 and for the price, really wanting to get the best machine. I know with care these machines do the job well and can last many years (I have a V6!). I am wondering if I am missing a key machine feature when compairing the V15 Detect Absolute + (Gold) with the V15 Detect Extra? Both are on the Dyson website and exclusive to Dyson direct. As far as I can see, I think both have the upgraded HEPA filter to 0.1 micron, both have the built in tool, same motor, same bin size, suction the same and cleaner heads seem to be the same and its just accessories that are different? Price for both is £659.99. I am looking for best performace, so colours don’t matter. Can a pro help a rookie out? - Thanks in advance.  (Moderation Edit - Tags Added/Title Updated)

My Mother-in-law is religious with cleaning. She’s methodical with hoovering, never misses an area of carpet or hard wood. She’s against any vacuum that isn’t a Hoover. To my pleasure, her Hoover broke and she HAD to borrowed our Dyson. This is the result after one pass. She’s a convert. Already ordering a V15! 🤣

If you are storing or transporting your vacuum in cold temperatures (below 3C°) and experiencing cut-out of the motor after 1-2 seconds, the unit is operating as-designed.I was experiencing some problems that are not documented in the manual and I have owned my cordless v8 absolute for 25 months.  At first, I though the battery was bad.  The symptoms were that I would remove the unit from its charging base and all 3 bars would show a fully charged battery.  I would squeeze the trigger and the unit would stop after 1-2 seconds and the battery indicator would display a single flashing blue bar.  It did not matter if a power accessory was attached, or nothing was attached.  It also did not matter if the unit was in MAX SUCTION mode or normal mode.I called Dyson support, and they thought I needed a new battery.  I am glad now that I did not order one.My unit is stored in the garage and for the last several weeks daytime temperatures have been below freezing.  I never “connected the dots” f

My V8 carpet attachment is "eating" out new carpet

Our V8 carpet brush roller is literally “eating” our new carpet. - every week!  I just contacted customer service who confirmed that the is no height adjustment on the carpet brush roller (or any other).  Any suggestions/alternatives would be greatly appreciated. (Our carpet installer recommended vacuuming EVERY week to prolong the carpet life BUT this is not going to be feasible long-term.

Flashing Blue & RED Lights & is NOT the battery

I have a Dyson V12 that is flashing all kinds of different colors. First it was just blue now I am getting Red some of the time. When the battery is out of the unit and I press the battery plunger the battery shows 3 blue bars. When I install the battery and pull the trigger I was getting get an unlimited number of blue flashes. I quit counting after 30.  Now I get 1 RED flashing light then it switches to Blue and goes on forever. The only way to get the battery to stop flashing is to plug it back into the charger out of the unit.I ordered a replacement battery and it did not fix the issue so I know its not the battery and must be something inside the unit. Can anyone help me with this?

Dirt is not sucked in

Hello,my Dyson V11 has the problem that it does not completely suck up small stones or similar, for example, but shoots them away or the dirt remains in the brush and falls out when it is switched off. I have cleaned everything, does anyone know where the problem could lie? Best regardsAlex

Horrible experience with Dyson warranty - terrible service

I have a Dyson V15 detect which stopped working properly and was still within warranty. I called Dyson support and they “placed” an order for replacement but asked me to ship mine back to them first. They said once received the warehouse would ship a new replacement. It’s been over 2 months since I started this process. I shipped back my broken vacuum with the UPS label they provided and with UPS confirmation that it was received by dyson. After numerous phone calls, chats and emails - the farthest I get is “allow 24-48 hrs for an update”. I have never received an update. I have never received the replacement and I honestly don’t know what is left for me to do. The service has been terrible. Phone calls and chats are so slow and take hours. Not what I was expecting for a customer with a $700 vacuum. All that’s left is to report them to the BBB. Anybody have any other ideas for solutions?

Carbon Fiber

Given the potential risk of small particulates released by the abrading of carbon fiber brush filaments, I'd rather avoid them. Please let me know which models (model numbers) have carbon fiber filaments. This is a genuine and reasonable concern. I'm surprised that Dyson has done this.

Need Spare Parts

I would like to see parts stocked in the store. I bought an expensive Gen5outsize vacuum a year ago. The ball arttachments on the head fell off and I can’t find the parts or the head anywhere, not on the Dyson site, nor on Amazon or the web. I did sign up to be notified when a part becomes available. I feel let down and frustrated by this. Maybe if it is difficult to source parts then stop making so many different models.

Has anyone had success in getting their refund?

I bought a gen 5 absolute at a demo store in late August. After about a month, the fluffy optic head started malfunctioning. Contacted to get a replacement but the spare part was out of stock. Was told to pack up my vacuum and they will send me a brand new one. But upon receiving the new one, it was packed with purple attachments (mine was Prussian blue/copper). Called again to ask for the correct attachments and was told they were out of stock. The resolution was for me to send everything back again and get a refund so that I can get a new one at the demo store. The vacuum was received on Nov. 20 and still no refund. I've called numerous times and kept getting told that the time frame was 7 to 10 to 14 business days. That time is up now and I called again yesterday to ask for my refund. I was told it was going to be processed yesterday. After being lied to so many times, I called today to check. Now, there's a new story that since I had originally bought this vacuum at the store, ther

Make my life easier, Dyson. System doesn’t recognize S/N from box. Then I find you disguise the fact stick vac won’t operate unless user holds down trigger while using. Now I’m reading Customer Service is the absolute worst. I am 5 seconds from returning this junk.

Wand for Built-in Dusting and Crevice Tool Not Locking

Hi everyone,I received a new Dyson V15 Detect Absolute today as a replacement for a defective V15 I had sent back. Right out of the box the wand that connects to the new built-in dusting and crevice tool is not locking into place. The button remains depressed and if I lift the vacuum up, the wand will just slide off. I’ve use a bit of force to try and engage it but I don’t want to break anything.Is there any trick to doing this? There was no noticeable obstructions and I didn’t see any damage to the clips inside the wand.  I’ve already called customer support but they were useless in troubleshooting besides acknowledging the issue. They suggested a replacement wand - but it’s out of stock - so I’m basically left without a working vacuum until the wand is back in stock. Could be several weeks, and I’ve already been waiting a month for the replacement for my original defective vacuum. 😑Any help would be appreciated.Best regards,B

Iconic Customer Service (wrong)

I sent my 39 day old Dyson that just stoped working into Dyson in El Paso Texas,  took the complete machine to the UPS store where they packed it up weighed it at 11.4 lbs sent on October 20th ….on November 18th I called to check the status on my replacement machine and was told the only received the motor and the receiving package weighed 7lbs. I told them we need to file a claim with UPS as of today Dec 10 they have not done so and said they are not providing a replacement .. so let’s let the public decide   Dyson ripped me off . This is the entire vacuum cleaner dropped off at the UPS store, have the video showing the employee packing this vacuum cleaner in a box and I was shown the video of the UPS driver picking up a completely sealed box      Dyson you get a big fat 0 for customer service and I am out my money and don’t even have the non working vacuum.
