VOC readings

Hi I have an issue with the VOC levels that are reported as a number from 1 to 9+ scale. What amount of VOC in ppm is present actually for each level in this scale ? This is important to me as an end user to know the absolute numbers that I am comfortable. Dyson categorically say that 0- 3 is good, 4-6 is fair and so on but it is a relative scale based on what amounts of VOC present actually, I don’t know ? This is unlike the formaldehyde levels which are given in ppm units. Appreciate if someone with the knowledge could enlighten us here. Thank you.

VOC sudden spike. Is it normal to always have been at 0?

I just noticed a spike in VOC and can’t figure out what’s going on. Opening the windows seems to help, but closing the window just spikes it back up. The fan downstairs did go down on its own after a few hours though even with the window closed. However, the one upstairs still is in the yellow. Also, I noticed that VOC has essentially always been at 0 until the spike. Is that normal?

How VOC scale in ppb defined in Dyson Purifier?

Hello, would you dyson have something like chart below to explain what range of ppb considered when scale the VOCs level from 1-10+ in Dyson purifier? More specifically, what range of ppb considered as Good in dyson, what range of ppl consider as Fair, what range of ppb considered as Poor? It would be very helpful in comparing data and accuracy. thank you

What specific substances is the voc sensor (purifier) calibrated to?

Is there a list of substances the VOC sensor reacts on (or is calibrated on)? The reason why I am asking is that the autoimmune disease of my wife got worse with moving to a new flat - and there is very likely some off-gasing happening (new furniture, wall colors, wooden floor covering, etc..). Whats interesting is that formaldehyde is super super low (0,005 never above 0.02) while VOC goes up to level 5 etc (especially at over 25° and 50% humidity) And we try hard to figure out what specifically is causing it .. (or not). It seems that formaldehyde is a laging indicator (and the formaldehyde sensor is really only calibrated to this rather than various aldehydes)

Dealing with Mold Issues – Can Air Purifiers Really Help?

I’ve been dealing with a pretty frustrating mold problem in my home, and I’m wondering if air purifiers could actually help improve the air quality and reduce some of the issues we’re facing. I know that mold is primarily a moisture problem, but I’ve read that air purifiers with HEPA filters can capture mold spores in the air and might help with the smell and prevent it from spreading further. I’m trying to figure out if investing in an air purifier is worth it or if I should just focus on removing the mold directly. Has anyone here had experience using air purifiers for mold problems? Did it make a noticeable difference in the air quality, or was it more of a short-term fix? I’ve been looking for more info on mold and air treatment options, and I found some helpful discussions on the topic over at moldremovalmemphis.com. Still, I’d love to hear some personal experiences or suggestions from this community about whether an air purifier might be a good step, or if there’s something else

is it normal when i have a few guests over and the VOC goes up?

The whole time i have about 6 of us together in the room, having alcohol together, the VOC spiked throughout the night and after an hour of airing, it’s still very poor. is it normal??

tvoc measurements on my Dyson BO04 is very high while the measurement of tvoc on my other air wuality measurement device reads low. Why is that?

Formaldehyde values with closed window below 0015 mg and with open window above 0020

hi… I have a question about the formaldeyde values. I noticed, when window is closed, the value is after a while of running around 0017 mg… When i open the window, i would expect that the value gets rapidly lower… but it doesnt, instead it grows up to 0030 and then falls slowly between 0020 and 0023 mg… I have smoking neighbours, but we have big gardens and the neighbour only has somewhere an ashtray in the garden. I dont know if this can be an explanation? But how could the value be so high? Do you observe the same behaviour? Which values do you have when opening windows?… thanks

Dyson air purifier always shows good air quality

Hi, i have just bought a Dyson air purifier cool, because I moved to the UAE and the air quality is terrible here. I turned it on and it showed that the air in my home is perfectly clean. Outside it is unhealthy, almost reaching the toxic dangerous level, so it is hard to belive that in my home literally next to the main highway the co2 is zero and all the other numbers are close to zero. I put it to my balcony and after 20 minutes it went up a little, but still showed good. I am vert disappointed. What is wrong with my purifier?

precision auto target

Can anyone help explain to me what I should be picking for precision auto target? To me “I’m very sensitive to particles and pollutants” seems as if it would keep the air quality the best however it doesn’t really seem to keep it in the green nor does it seem like it’s working very hard to do so. I’m just not sure if maybe I’m not understanding which setting is best for continuous good air quality.

Humidifier not humidifying

I bought a purifier + humidifier (formaldehyde version) last year and have been using the humidifier on and off, never had any issues and have been diligent with maintenance. I’m unsure what went wrong but, the humidifier is not humidifying at all, I believe the pump either broken or clogged because the few times that it has seemingly made an attempt to pump water, it has resulted in a super loud noise that persisted until I restarted the machine. The water level hasn’t decreased a single bit either, I ran 3 deep cleaning tests (with and without citric acid), no luck. I already contacted Dyson and I’m waiting for a response but I was curious to know if anybody has had a similar issue or knew how to fix it, I think the entrance of the pump is what might be clogged but I’m afraid to tamper with it since the user manuals don’t mention it. Thank you

Constantly fluctuating air quality - Is this right?

The air quality in my room, according to my sensor, has been fluctuating very dramatically and I am wondering if this happens to other people, if there is something wrong with my sensor, or if I just have a serious air quality problem? could my humidify+cool be increasing VOCs and NO2?

I have a Dyson pure humidify + cool. I am noticing that when I turn it on, the air quality readings are good. After running the machine for 30 min the VOC and NO2 quality moves very quickly to poor or very poor. If I turn off the machine and wait 20 min, the readings go back to normal. I completed a deep cleaning cycle even though it wasn’t prompted but this has not improved.

Dyson Air quality

hi i was just wondering if anyone else has problems with their dyson fan and their xbox or any gaming console/pc because i turn on my xbox and play for a couple hours and my air quality for pm2.5 and pm10 instantly jumps to 130 and the air quality in my area is 19 and my house is very clean so i was wondering if my xbox would cause any problems with my dyson? if anyone has this same problem please let me know :)

Sweet Smell from New Air Purifier Filters

Hello, I have a problem with any air purifier filter I purchased from Dyson, and it’s driving me nuts! All of the filters produce this sweet yeast-like smell. The smell occurs immediately right out of the box and never goes away. It’s especially strong when the air purifier is on low (heat or no heat). I have two air purifiers HP01 Hot and Cold and P01 Pure Cool Me Air Purifier Fan and the issue is the same with both. I have had my HP01 air purifier for many years and the old filters (one purchased more than 2 years ago) never had this issue. Has Dyson changed their filters? I use a filter in my toddler’s room and am worried that this smell is harmful. What is causing this smell? Is it safe? The air never smells fresh!

Dyson air purifier big + quiet formaldehyde BP04 VOC and NO2 values do not display on screen

Hello, I have recently purchased a dyson air purifier big + quiet formaldehyde BP04 and for the first week, it seems to be working as expected, however, when scrolling through the information screens on the unit itself with the remote, it does not display the value for the VOC or NO2. That said, when I look at the app on my phone, the VOC and NO2 values are displayed as expected. Further, the values are being recorded and tracked in the chart on the phone app. But again, the VOC and NO2 values do not display on the unit itself. Finally, the other values such as air quality, PM, temp, humidity formaldehyde, etc. all display the value of the current reading on the machine’s little screen as I click through on the information button on the remote. Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know if there is a fix? Thanks!

Machine Air Quality Report Unavailable

I’ve got Dyson Purifier Cool in my study and a Big+Quiet in my living room and I tried generating a Machine Air Quality report for the first time with both. I’v e had them for a few weeks now and Continuous Monitoring has been turned on this entire time. On the iPhone app, I can see the graphs showing the air quality of the previous few days, even when the machine was switched off. But the report error message says: “Your machine hasn’t collected enough air quality readings” (see screenshot). I have tried restarting the app and the machine. No difference.

Dyson PH04 Never going into standy/idle mode

Hello, Firsty sorry for my bad english I am no native speaker. I have set the air purifier up 3 days ago in the evening. I have set it on auto purify and auto humidify for more than 24 hours. It detects PM2.5, 10, VOC and so on very good and cleans it. But my main issue is the auto mode and the HCHO Formaldehyde Levels. The device never goes into standby. It always runs on at least fan speed 2 doing whatever. I think it tries to clean the formaldehyde but I am not sure. The HCHO levels stay at around 0.50-0,55 all the time. It never goes up or down. Even when the purifier is turned off the level barely changes. So I suspect the sensor somehow is not working. Once it reached 0,43 and 0,67. But I have never reached the auto setting where the device waits for the air to get bad and do something. Currently my PM2.5 level is 2 and so is the PM10. VOC and NO2 are on 0. HCHO is on 0,55 and the device runs consantly which is pretty annoying. I have it running for more than 72 hours now. Did a

TP09 In AUTO won't stop running - Formaldehyde

We have had our new TP09 for about a week now. We really like it and can tell it’s made a difference in the air quality. One thing we have noticed is that is never stops running in auto mode. Definitely due to the formaldehyde which seems to be down to .045-.060. But can’t get lower on its own. If we open windows it will start to read lower. is it possible that our house just has that much (5 year old new build) that it can’t keep up on its own? When we first got the TP09 it was sitting at .275.

Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool Formaldehyde Air quality detection strange - Should I repair it?

Dear community, I’d like to ask before I send the device to service. We have it for some 4 months but from the beginning I observe strange behavior regarding the airquality detection. It’s not about it doesn’t detect a bad airqality (it’s 99.9% problem VOC). But after detection it almost never purifies / solves the problem. What helps always is a restart (power cable out and in). Examples: I tried to put something smelly near the sensors. It detected and the line went yellow. So it works. The purifier is running and it detects something in the evening and the line goes yellow, ventilation 8-9 pretty loud. This doesn’t change until the morning. So it is loudly running the whole night but the airquality is not better (at least he thinks so). Plese don’t think there is something smelly in the night. no! It happens also during the day when the flat is empty and we are away. What always helps is a hard restart. So imaging the line goes yellow and it’s starts a hard purifying. In 5 Minutes I

Air quality graph is consistently the same - Any Ideas?

I have a TP09, and I've been using the fan but the line graph for the air quality basically never moves. It's essentially a flat line in the green area just below the yellow area. To try to test it I tried spraying some Febreeze in front of it but it made no bump on the graph at all. I also tried smacking a chair to release some dust clouds in the air but nothing changed either. It also shows the PM2.5 and PM10 level both either at 1 or 2 which seems good but it seems too good, when the outside was around 10 and 40 respectively. Does this seem like it's working properly or is the sensor faulty?
