Welcome to the Dyson Community, and thanks for taking the time to share your feedback on the Dyson Submarine™ wet roller cleaner head.
As you’ve mentioned, the Dyson Submarine™ wet roller head is not compatible with pre-purchased V12 or V15 vacuums. To intelligently switch between wet and dry cleaning, the new Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine™ and V15s Detect Submarine™ variants have been reprogrammed with new software which recognises when the Submarine head has been attached, and automatically switches to wet cleaning mode.
Machines manufactured previously don’t include this software, and therefore aren’t compatible.
Please note, although the Dyson Submarine is engineered to wash using just water, you can add a gentle, low-foaming household antibacterial cleaning agent if you want:
The Dyson Submarine™ head can cover up to 160sqm on a full tank of water. Actual cleaning coverage will vary depending on usage. Our wet cleaning range does also include the new Dyson WashG1™ wet cleaner.
There’s nothing we can do to change the design or performance of your machine, but I hope this information is useful.
