Hi @Guto,
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
It’s not possible for us to confirm an exact lifespan for any component, including the battery, as this will depend on how each individual machine is used, maintained and stored. Like any battery, ours are subject to natural degradation over time. But the Dyson warranty period is 2 years, and we’d expect the battery to last for at least that long.
We can only apologise if you're unhappy with the resolution offered. Since your machine is unrepairable, we’ve offered a 25% discount on your next purchase as a gesture of goodwill.
It won't be possible for us to override the resolution you've been offered by your local Dyson Customer Care team, but we will be happy to pass your feedback on your experience along to the right people for you.
As expected you have missed the point, and consumers are realising this and I want to highlight the issue. You are selling a product that once the battery dies, and this as you said “ours are subject to natural degradation over time” and that at that point the product becomes defunct although all the other components are fine, and you state in your message to me and other to dispose of the product, that cost £400 +. So yes I would understand the battery but that it is not fixable. Therefore I and everyone else have been miss-lead and miss sold, knowing that the battery cannot be replaced I would not have invested £400 in this product.
I will do the work for you and say “DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AS WHEN THE BATTERY DEGRADES YOU WILL NEED TO DISPOSE OF THE PRODUCT AND THERE ARE NO FIXES, ESTIMATED LIFESPAN 2-3years”
Put that on the product and you will be legally correct for consumer rights, and also you will not sell many!
I am currently in discussion with trading standards and consumer rights, I will not let this go, and my solicitor will pick this up, and on principle I will not let this go. How many customers have suffered, look at the forums, this is a common theme.
shame on Dyson
