If you go by what’s shown on the Dyson site, its the replacement of the entire Main Body. It doesn’t look like this part is sold separately. 

You might find that another stockist has the part. Try Dyson V6 Vacuum Cleaner Spare Parts | PartsCentre. You might also consider buying a used part on eBay?

I’m wondering if it’s a removeable part if I get my hands on an old body?

It’s possible. We threw ours on the recycling pile not long ago. There’s a fair few selling cheap on eBay. Worth the risk.

I’m actually thinking of glueing an attachment of some sort to do the job.
