New replacement battery isdifferent and NOT charging

Ordered a nreplacement battery but it does not charge.

I notice that the power supply pin does not seem to go all the way in.

The power supply does work.

I have attached an image with the two batteries.

Left is new battery and right is the original.

Notice how the port for the connector is different.

The pin inside the hole is set deeper in the new battery.

Am I expected to buy a new powersupply?

We wouldn’t expect the original charger cable assembly to need replacement, as long as the correct compatible battery pack for your machine has been ordered. 

Are you able to let us know which model of Dyson vacuum you own, and if possible, provide a link to the battery you ordered - did you purchase direct from Dyson?
