V10 tools not working with or without wand. Seems to be sucking


As title.  The v10 vacuum is sucking but suddenly all of the floor tools seem to have stopped spinning.  It was working ok but when I switched floor tools to a carpet one it stopped spinning and therefore picking up.  Any ideas?

Welcome to the Dyson community!

To troubleshoot the machine, kindly remove the bin and check the bin by the following steps: 

Push the bin release catch to open the bin. Please ensure the bin is empty. Press the red bin release button and slide the bin off of the cyclone.

  1. Check the bin base and clean any dirt using a brush or dry cloth.
  2. The bin can be cleaned with a damp, lint-free cloth only and must be completely dry before refitting.

Also, please check the cyclone and remove the fine dust by the following steps: 

Using a brush, remove dust and debris from the cyclone shroud. This is the silver colored part of the cyclone with lots of holes in it.

  1. Look inside the end of the cyclone where the wand and tools attach.
  2. The dirt goes up this channel and then into the bin through a hole in the side of the cyclone. You should be able to see light shining through from either end.
  3. Remove anything blocked in this channel.

After that kindly refit the bin and test the machine by the following steps: 

  1. Slide the bin back onto the cyclone until you hear a click.
  2. Close the bin base and push the bin back into place on the cyclone until you hear a click.
  3. Now the cyclone and bin are back on the machine, test the pick up.

Please check the wand and tools if there is any blockage, moreover kindly conform which tool you are using so that we can assist you further.

Many thanks for your reply.  I've checked all the things above.  I still have the issue that the floor tools don't seem to be getting power.  I've chatted with one of the support guys online today and they informed me that I will need a new main body for the vacuum, but that the shorter body sized replacement is not in stock.  The length of the bin on my v10 sv12  is only 104.5mm.so doesn't seem to be the usual size.  As an alternative, would the part that includes the handle and the motor /electronics fit both sizes of the v10 as I am happy to try this to see if it will work, the parts shop local to me suggested this may be an option?  The part the support team recommended  was number 969596 09, but I cant see this specific part on the website, just the longer bin sized main body, which shows as being in stock.  Any help with recommendations for the right part would be gratefully received.
