another question about too much suction Dyson Animal and Dyson Multi-floor II

I have a Dyson Animal 2 and a Dyson Multi Floor 2.  Both are very very difficult to use.  I am 69 years old and I struggle to move these vacuums across a short pile carpet.  Same goes with short pile area rugs.  The amount of physical exertion it takes is unbelievable.  I have read all the posts about modifying the head to increase the “leakage.”   I don’t think I should have to do this!  Will Dyson make this right?  By-the-way, the reason we have two is we bought two at the same time to use in our two-story house.

Hi @bajadrifter,

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

We're sorry to hear you're finding your Dyson vacuums hard to push on this particular carpet type. This may be a result of the machines' very powerful suction in combination with a densely-woven carpet pile which doesn't allow sufficient airflow into the cleaner head.

Please note we wouldn't recommend attempting to modify your machines to work outside of their normal specification. But please check you have the red suction control slider on the cleaner head set to open the debris gates and allow more airflow into the cleaner head. This will help reduce the push-force needed:

If these machines aren't right for your particular needs, we'd recommend speaking to the retailer you purchased from to discuss your options. If you bought direct from Dyson, please visit Dyson.com and click Support to speak with our expert Customer Care team in your region.

Hope this helps!
