Just bought a new Dyson Animal 2 vacuum. It is very hard to push on carpet, almost impossible. Is there a setting that can be changed?

There should be a suction slider to reduce the airflow.
If that fails, try visiting their online help. There might be an answer I’ve missed.

If there isn’t a slider, then Dyson maybe able to send you a newer head to solve the problem. If they’re not able to do this or don’t have stock, you may need to look at returning it. Sorry to say.
