Hi my dc 55 head keeps stop starting what could cause this also I have a spare dc 40 would that head fits

Have you checked the BrushBar power button? Might have been knocked by accident. Failing that, these models have a 5-year cover for parts and labour. Have you tried calling Dyson or looking at their online help?

The cleaner heads aren’t cross compatible. If there a faulty, you’ll have to get it replaced. Worth reading this for anything you might have missed. https://www.dyson.co.uk/support/journey/troubleshooting/210232-01/pick-up-issues-206685/check-the-base-259902 before getting a replacement part.
