Understanding Battery DegradationSPOTLIGHTED POST
Since the community became inclusive of all Dyson technology, of late, I’ve responded to discussions surrounding the Cordless vacuums and their battery life expectancy. Specifically, on the belief these should last for a substantial time past their warranty expiration.Having a working knowledge of battery development, I wanted to share my own opinion on this subject.Battery failure is sadly unpredictable. It exclusively can’t be tracked to a singular cause, and it is important to note that this doesn’t just affect vacuum batteries but any rechargeable battery in modern society. The battery in power tools, remote control cars through to that of the rechargeable AA/AAA batteries in use around the home, all fall foul of degradation over time.A combination of sources can influence the capacity, discharge, and operation of these batteries. These sources are inclusive of, overcharging, undercharging, discharging, local temperature, local humidity, component maintenance, and prolonged impact
I’ve had my vacuum since June of 2020 and recently when using the main vacuum motorhead, the brush stops spinning. It still picks up but not on carpet/rugs because it won’t spin. I’ve spent hours troubleshooting and cleaning all the pieces. I borrowed my in-laws motorhead to try it with our vacuum and it still didn’t work so I went ahead and ordered a new main body/cyclone. Using the new body with our motorhead, it still didn’t work! However it did work with my in-laws motorhead so now I have no idea which piece needs to be replaced or if I should just give up and purchase a brand new vacuum since we are out of warranty now.
Hello there, when I pull the trigger, I see the charge level but the hoover does not start. It starts inconsistently - sometimes reliably sometimes I need to press a second or a third time. I changed the the trigger in the past with a more robust 3D printed one so I feel the trigger is fine. I would be be curious to understand the symptoms so I can repair accordingly. Thank you, pierre
My V7 pulses, ie goes on and off, when I use the long attachment but is fine with the hand tool. Ive replaced the filters and can’t find any blockages. It may be the battery but I’m reluctant to spend more money when it might not help, as the vacuum is only two years old.I waited for ages in the queue and spoke to a guy who wasn’t helpful or interested. The machine is only a couple of months out of warranty and I expect more from such a premium brand. Any advice before I switch to a more reliable brand?
Hi everyone! Our V12 gets very quickly clogged with fine dust at the larger slits/vents reducing the vacuum power and eventually signaling, that the filter has to be cleaned (which is not the case). Please see the photos for reference:What can be the problem? I don’t think that this was happening with the new device. Can it be, that the gasket is not fitting tightly any more and that I have to replace the outer/detachable part of the bin? See next photo:Thanks a lot in advance for your insights,Franz
Hi. Something has fallen off the high torque XL cleaner head of my V11 Outsize. It’s the cone shaped disc which covers the screw at one end of the head. Are these parts available for purchase please, or would I need to replace the who head? Also would this missing piece cause anything else to loosen eventually or is it ok to keep using ? Thanks in advance
Dear community,my name is Klaus and I am a happy user of the Dyson V11 Absolute. There is a small compression spring in the battery for the locking mechanism. This one was damaged for some reason and the battery does not lock anymore into the device.Since I do not want to replace the battery for almost 100 EUR I am looking for replacement of that little compression spring. Can somebody tell me where I can get a replacement part or alternatively the specs (wire diamater, spring diamter, spring length)? Unfortunately the orginal spring got lost, so I cannot measure it myself :(.Thanks in advance!Klaus
My Dyson V6 Animal shuts off after running for just a few seconds in MAX mode. If I run it in standard mode it will run perfectly fine. As soon as I switch to MAX it cuts off after a few seconds. No pulsing, fully charged battery.I replaced the battery with a brand new genuine battery, I’ve taken the whole thing apart and cleaned everything. I accept that probably I have a motor problem and will need to order a new machine, that’s no problem. However, until the new machine arrives, how can I get the machine to run in Standard mode? The last setting was MAX, so when I switch it on now, it just cuts out after a second or two, not giving me time to change the mode back to standard. I know that if I can get it back to standard mode then I can at least use it temporarily. Can anyone tell me how to get it to start up in standard mode even if it was on MAX the last time it was used?Thank you!
Ok, so this is rather strange. My Dyson V10 is cutting out after one pulse on high or medium setting, but it’s working alright on low. I took it to bits and gave it a deep clean, still the same. Now the funny part begins. it doesn’t work on high/medium, but if I block the suction hole with my hand, it’s working fine on all settings. As soon as I take my hand back, it stops again.Any ideas anybody?
My v7 is fully charged. After about 5 seconds it stops, I plug it back it and it indicates it is fully charged and it will go again. This happens 3 to 4 times and then finally works fine until the charge is gone. It’s not pulsing just stopping this happens on boost as well as normal. Very annoying. Hye,we just bought the new v15s Submarine and are quite happy with the product. The Submarine itself however, is a bit tricky when it comes to cleaning it after using it. You not only clean milk or ketchup stains, you also use it around the toilet. It’s not ideal to have to clean the brush with your hands from a hygienic perspective. Would it work to put it into the washing machine, using the most sensitive program available? And: Where can a second brush be ordered? It would be great to have a spare one available.Looking forward to your replies! Thanks!
I mistakenly used my V15 cordless Dyson to regularly clean up cat litter in the bathroom. After about a year, it developed an unpleasant odor.I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to eliminate the smell from my V15.Here’s what I’ve tried so far: • Dismantling certain parts and cleaning them with vinegar and other cleaning agents. • Vacuuming up baking soda and ground coffee.I’m becoming quite desperate and am considering replacing specific parts like the main tube, filter, and main container, if they are available for purchase separately.
I regularly pop in and check on an elderly Lady neighbour, on one occasion she was having her V6 serviced. On another visit the following week I was asked to dispose of a new vacuum cleaner carton, I queried why having spent £75 on the V6 service, she said it had stopped working almost immediately after his visit, she didnt want the fuss of complaining. She asked me to dispose of the V6, I detest waste and looked as best I could at the V6, the head had not been cleaned, the new filter had no dust whatsoever on it and nothing in the bin. It charges up OK, the blue lights go out, it fires up immediately, no lag but cuts out within 3 seconds, put it back on charge and the lights go out very quickly, so can I assume the battery is good ?, also the suction on that very short run time us strong. It peeves me to dispose of it as I don’t subscribe to this throw away society.Any suggestion ?Regards MS
Can I purchase the gen5 fluffy optic head parts separately in the UK mainland instead of the product set?I wish I could only purchase the part marked with a red line in the photo. The damaged photo is of my 5th generation soft optical head, and it was damaged in that condition 3 months after purchase. Fortunately, it was a 1:1 free replacement within the warranty period, but it would be embarrassing if this situation occurred again even after the warranty period had passed. And there is no problem if you just replace the housing part, but exchanging the product 1:1 seems to be a loss to the head office as well. what do you think?
I have a 4-year old V7 Fluffy, that has recently developed a fault. Most times, it won’t start, with the red LED flashing 10 times. If I’m patient and try it enough times, the cleaner may start. Once started it runs OK until I stop it. Subsequent restarts may be OK but sooner or later it reverts to sulking and giving me the red-eyed wink 10 times.Research suggests that 10 flashes on a V7 indicate a motor fault, not a battery fault. But as the cleaner does occasionally run, I’m wondering if I have a dirty or faulty connection somewhere. The problem has nothing to do any attachments, as it occurs even with no attachment.Suggestions welcomed.
My first Dyson was easy and I loved it! After 5 years it was time for a new one. The new Dyson I have the hardest time making it connect, it’s a battle each time I take if off the docking station and add the wand. I just wanted to know if anybody has had this issue? This is not a issue that came up a year later but from day 1. I honestly thought maybe this new model was just harder to use but I’m ready to throw it through my living room window at this point. I plan on making a short video and sending it to Dyson.
Just posting if anyone has experience anything similar. Whilst hovering and manoeuvring round my settee the brush head snapped on my V8 stick hoover. The part had no previous damage (just the normal scuffs expected from a 3 yr old machine)Luckily it’s a replaceable part but a strange place to break without any reason. Thanks
My vac, I think it’s a V8, was working fine. Maybe total of 20 battery cycles. With the carpet attachment was good for at least 10 minutes of use. Then suddenly the battery is toast, flashing red light. This happened after having in on the charger, but then unplugging the charger from the wall and leaving it plugged into the vac. Seems like the unplugged charger discharged the battery beyond recovery.Anyone else ever experience this?TIA
I have had multiple problems with the vacuum - it says there is blockage and clearly there was none. Then it suddenly okay again. Now the pulsing problem is making my dyson v11 not usable at all. I suspect this is due to the filter again and i tried buying them from dyson and it was not in stock! Hence I bought one from shopee malaysia but the problem (pulsing) is still the occurring.I went to the service center and told my stories. To my surprise, the dyson people at the counter told me that I am cleaning the filter wrong, even though I am following the manual, he said the guidance in the manual is actually wrong. He also said the motor is damaged because I am using a fake filter, which I am not even used yet!My dyson is out of warranty on 2021, hence they quote me a repair cost of RM700 for the main body and RM75 for labor cost. This is clearly outrageous how can a product so expensive then broken down due to its own issue (i have read that the pulsing problem is common worldwide), t
