My humidifier sometimes consumes water correctly but often gets stuck and will run all night on the humidify setting without actually pumping any water into the evaporator coil.

What I’ve tried so far:

• Checking that no water is touching the pump column’s electrical contacts
• Running a deep cleaning cycle
• Replacing the water column pump (bought a new one from Dyson)
• Fully fulling the water tank
• Half-filling the water tank
• Clearing out the small water tube with a Q-Tip

Sometimes it seems to work, uses up a tank of water, and then on the next refill it stops working again. I leave it empty for a few days and then it works again. I’m really struggling to identify the pattern here.

Here’s a photo with the evaporator removed showing that no water runs into the evaporator chamber even when the tank is filled and the humidify setting is supposedly active.
