I bought the recommended replacement brush bar for the V7 (which did look different to the current one but I figured they had changed) but now it has arrived I cannot fit it back through the same hole on the side of the head that the original brush bar came out of. I honestly think it is not compatible but wanted to check I was not missing anything before I asked to return it. Thanks!

From what you’ve described, it does sound as if the brush bar you’ve ordered may not be the right one for your Dyson V7 vacuum’s cleaner head.
So we can help you further, please can you reply with some clear pictures of the cleaner head and the new brush bar you’ve received?

Hi - hope this helps. It’s clear I think but the horizontal pieces are the old ones and the new roller is vertical on the left.

You’re correct - what you’ve ordered is the Soft roller, compatible with the Dyson Fluffy soft roller cleaner head, and not with your Direct drive cleaner head.
I’m not sure if you’ve ordered directly from Dyson or from another online retailer, but I’d recommend requesting to return the Soft roller for a refund.
