From my experience, sometimes fine hair might get trapped in the motor causing this. Where do you reside?
Hi @Emmajaneferns,
Welcome to the Dyson Community!
Thanks for letting us know about this - this usually means your Dyson Airwrap multi-styler is shutting down for protection when overheating due to the filter needing a clean. Appreciate you’ve been cleaning the filter regularly anyway, but sometimes it does need a more thorough clean to remove any accumulated traces of airborne hairspray or other styling products or particulates.
Please follow the steps shown in troubleshooting guide to clean both the inner and outer filter sections, and check for any other issues. You should be able to see daylight clearly through both the inner and outer filter sections when held up to the light:
Hope this helps!
Hello Jack,
Thanks for your reply. I have tried all of the steps above and I’m still getting the red light after about 10/15 seconds of switching on the airwrap. I think I’ll need to contact the care team but thank you all the same.
Hi @Emmajaneferns,
No problem at all! Thanks for the update - I’m sorry the initial troubleshooting steps haven’t resolved things in this instance, but our Customer Care team will be able to look into what further options are available here.
My Dyson Airwrap has been flashing red, overheating (the handle area gets hot and I have to drop it) and cutting out power for about 2 months now. I love it and use it many 3 times/week. I have owned it for just over 2 years.
But now I cannot have it on high heat, my airwrap is overheating numerous times while using it takes ages and is so frustrating. The red light flashes, it switches off, and then needs 1 min then plug it in again, switch back on, and it starts and then overheats again. I have purchased 6 additional attachments and it does same with all of them. I keep it clean and clean the filter daily before use. It cannot be used on the highest setting as it will overheat immediately. The base gets hot and is dangerous to hold.
On the call today with Dyson I was hoping to find a solution to perhaps arrange a base only, I was told that they offer a fix at £100 and it could take a month to do.
No option to buy or receive a new base, or recycle a faulty item if replaced. I am shocked that Dyson consider this piece of faulty electrical a piece of rubbish and was told to throw it in the trash. Does Dyson not offer a fix/replacement part/or recycling sustainability programme. I’m literally speechless that what I paid over £350 for a haircare piece is within 2 years useless and thrown into garbage never to decompose. It should be somehow replaced just the base? on the call I was told to throw this one away and buy a completely new one.
Is there a way to fix this?
