Dyson Corded vacuums: Understanding the tools and accessories | Dyson Community
Skip to main content

Dyson engineers put as much care and attention into developing our tools and accessories as they do into the machines themselves. The tools supplied with your Dyson upright or cylinder vacuum will vary depending on which model you own, but our complete range of tools are available from our website. If you’ve ever wondered which accessory is best for which cleaning task, here’s your chance to learn more!

The following video is a good place to start - using a Dyson upright vacuum as an example, you can see how to attach and use some of our most popular tools. The principle will be similar for other Dyson upright and cylinder models.

In this article we take a look at some of the innovative and robust attachments engineered for Dyson upright and cylinder vacuum cleaners.

Standard fit accessories

Compatible with Dyson upright and cylinder vacuum cleaners with standard fittings (not quick release).

Groom tool

Tackling pet hair at the source, for medium- and long-haired adult pets. 364 flexible angled bristles penetrate your pet's coat to remove loose hair and dead skin cells hairs directly into the vacuum - so they don't get on you, or spread around the room. There are no fiddly buttons or dials - you can adjust the bristle length with a single thumb control.

Flexi-crevice tool

Extends and bends into hard-to-reach places around your home and inside your car. Airflow is faster at the tip, removing dirt and debris from corners and awkward gaps. The brush head can be locked onto the tough polypropylene shaft for tacking larger particles, and the stiff nylon bristles dislodge dust and ground-in grime from carpets and car interiors.

Mattress tool

Removes dust, dirt and allergens from mattresses, curtains and upholstery. The extra-wide aperture is engineered to ensure the tool doesn’t stick on fabric. And a precisely engineered channel distributes airflow for optimised edge-to-edge suction.

Soft dusting brush

Surrounded by a skirt of fine nylon bristles angled at 45 degrees to gently sweep dust into the airflow and suck it away. A felt strip down the centre protects delicate and polished surfaces from scratching. Ideal for removing dust and allergens from wooden surfaces, blinds, counter tops and car interiors.

Extension hose

Adds up to 24 inches of flexible reach to any tool attachment, to clean up high or down low in narrow or shallow spaces around your home or car. A flexible wire helix – engineered from tough wire sandwiched between two layers of durable plastic – springs back into position when not in use. Tested 2,200 times for durability.

Reach-under tool

Bends around corners, behind radiators and between furniture to remove dust and allergens from awkward spots. Anti-block inlets are distributed across the low-profile paddle head. It even includes an additional nylon brush head for larger debris.

Up-top tool

Fine nylon bristles remove dust and allergens from door frames, wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, light fixtures, ceiling fans and other hard-to-reach areas. Rotation joints lock into position with a simple click, for rigidity at multiple angles. A felt bumper strip ensures it's kind to screens and surfaces. And the smooth profile provides constant airflow velocity at every angle.

Stubborn dirt brush

Stiff nylon bristles help scrub dried-on mud and ground-in dirt from coarse carpets, high traffic areas and car interiors. The angled bristles create a flicking motion, releasing dirt straight into the airflow.

Tangle-free turbine tool

Counter-rotating heads with brushes remove stubborn, stuck-on hair from carpets, upholstery, car interiors, stairs and bedding. There's no conventional brush bar for hair to wrap around - so hair is released directly into the bin. The base plate articulates to maintain contact with surfaces, and the twin brush heads direct hair towards the suction channel at the centre of the tool.

Carbon fibre soft dusting brush

For gentle, vacuum-assisted dusting. Soft, densely-packed carbon fibre filaments prevent static and help unlock clinging fine dust and allergens from flat surfaces and furniture. The self-adjusting brush plate automatically redirects the suction channel to maximise dust pickup with every sweep, while the felt bumper makes it kind to screens and surfaces.

Combination tool

Two tools in one – brush and crevice nozzle. For simple switching between tasks.

Quick-release accessories

Compatible with Dyson upright and cylinder vacuum cleaners with quick-release fittings (where the accessory has a red button on it).

Quick-release adaptor

Connects universal fit tools with Dyson’s latest Quick release catches.
