The filter in the Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners are designed to capture microscopic particles. Over time these particles can build up and reduce performance. By washing the filter(s) at least once a month, it helps to maintain optimal performance, the suction power of the vacuum and should prolong the filter life.
To help you maintain these filters, we’ve designed 5 quick and easy steps to follow:
1. Remove the Dyson filter(s).
Remove the Dyson filter(s) from your vacuum cleaner
2. Remove excess powder
Gently tap the filter on a sink or container to remove excess dust.
3. Wash the filter
Wash the filter with fresh water.
Do not use detergents.
4. Remove excess water
Fill the filter with fresh water. Cover both ends of the filter with water and shake the filter to remove excess dirt. Repeat the process until the water runs clear.
5. Let it dry for more than 24 hours
After washing the filter(s), let it dry for at least 24 hours in an area with plenty of airflow, such as next to a fan or open window.
Please note. The filter must be completely dry before replacing it, otherwise it could cause damage the vacuums motor. Do not dry the filter in a tumble dryer, microwave or near an open flame.
