Smart Home and Custom skills are different interaction models for Alexa.
The type of interaction model determines the types of requests the Dyson Skill can handle, requests are invoked differently between the two models.
Custom skills use pre-defined custom utterances that require the user to say "Ask Dyson" before their command, whereas Smart Home offers a more natural interaction with Alexa.
Smart Home allows the use of Routines. Users can use Routines to automate a series of actions using a single voice command of their choice. For example, a user could say "Alexa, it's bedtime.", to turn off the lights and turn on night mode for their Dyson purifier.
