Tips for damp carpet smell, using DC49 | Dyson Community
Skip to main content

I recently had my carpet professionally cleaned. Previous owner has dogs and it took several cleans, leaving there carpet wet.  It has been slow to dry and now has a nasty smell of damp.

I have a DC49 and ideally want to use that than but something else.

Any tips?

Thank you

Justin

Hi @Jut

I'm sorry to hear about the funny smell your carpet has developed after washing it.

While the DC49 can be used on dry carpets, it may not be effective in entirely eliminating odors. However, it's worth a try to see if it helps improve the situation. If the smell persists, you may want to consider other odor removing methods or consulting a professional for further assistance.

Kind Regards

There isn’t really any. Only the Dyson submarine is designed to remove water from flooring. If you such it up using the DC49 or anything else you’ll damage the motor. The mods right, try using a carpet cleaner or detergent.
