DC 17 Flicker Strip - won't stay on - is it safe to use with out it?

Hello!  I have had my DC 17 for more than 18 years and I am just now having issues with it.  I took apart and cleaned the hair and what not off of the roller bar, and cleaned the gunk off of the bottom plate, but the Flicker Strip came off and will not stay on.  I just want to make sure it is safe to use with out the flicker strip because apparently it is not being made anymore and there is no replacement part for it anywhere.

Hi @Rice1993,

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

We’d recommend carefully checking the rest of the soleplate for any damage, to make sure there’s no risk of scratching or damaging your flooring.

As long as the soleplate is clean and undamaged, it should be fine to continue to use your machine without the scatter strip in place. But you may find that the DC17 soleplate is available as a complete assembly from other third party vendors online - and it would be worth replacing it to ensure full performance.

Hope this helps!
