HP09 Garlic Smell | Dyson Community

First off I want to say that Dyson Canada has been good at trying to help with this. Their customer service thus far has been as I would expect, so no complaints there.

The first HP09 I had worked great and performed as I would have hoped. Until one day the wife cooked up a strong garlic dish (unit is placed on the top floor of the house in a bedroom, no where near the kitchen). Since then the unit emitted the garlic smell for months after. All procedures were followed (cleaning, new filters...etc) until it was decided they would exchange the unit for a new one.

New one goes back upstairs to the same spot as the old one (bedroom) and so far was fine, until some garlic toast was made. Now, we are back with the same issue again on a 2nd unit. Dyson is sending me some replacement filters to “fix” the issue which is fine, I'll try it again and see (not getting my hopes up). I doubt it will fix the issue as that didn't work on the last one, but I'll play along again.

Has anyone else run into this issue with their air purifier?

Thanks

Hi. Yes, my HP09 just started with the garlic smell this evening. Front fan is not smelling but when I turned on the back fan it stunk up the room pretty quickly. Our purifier is used on the third floor, kitchen on ground floor, but no recent corresponding garlic meals to account for the smell. Smell was so bad that I had to take it out of the room where we wanted to have it.
