How to get a definitive answer to a V6 Battery question

Hi.

 

Have a V6 for about 5 years - light use.  MAX mode went on the blink pretty much straight away but the unit has been fine on normal power setting.  Of late, battery performance has dropped off a cliff - it used to do the kitchen/living/stairs and almost two bedrooms if moving quickly.  Now it just does the kitchen before conking out.  

Reading here it seems that although battery end-of-life is the most likely explanation (ergo: replace it), it isn’t necessarily so,

I don’t want to buy a €70 battery only to find the problem is something else.   How do I get a definitive answer?  Dyson’s troubleshoot is pretty useless in this regard,

@Skepto  It does sound like a battery replacement is needed here. Also, go ahead and check the machine for any partially-blocked airways:
