I can’t tell if this is broken. The separate circular part seems to have broken edges. It won’t stay attached to the main body, although the purple filter does still clip on to this loose part. Do I need a new part; if so, which one? Thank you

Yep. Broken. The plastic isn’t meant to sheer off. If you’re in your warranty, claim a replacement from Dyson. If not, you’ll have to pay out for it! The parts calls the Main Body. You should be able to save the battery, screws out at the bottom pf the handle.
