I'm trying to replace the low profile catch that holds the attachments to the main body on my cordless V6 vacuum. I already have the part (including the spring), I just can't get it to fit into the slot. 

Is there some trick to this? I get one side in but the sticky out part where it pivots will not go lower. I feel like want more pressure will snap the replacement part too.
