Dyson Animal Light Ball vertical pipe blocked | Dyson Community
Skip to main content

Hi all, I am hoping someone can help.

I have a Dyson Animal light ball and it is blocked. It is blocked in the clear vertical pipe that goes from the top of the ball assembly to the opening in to the detachable waste bin. I can pull out stuff from the top of the pipe but I can see there is stuff in there all down the pipe.

Is there a way at getting at it?

Hi @keithrevis,

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

The clear plastic access cover you’ve described can be removed to retrieve any obstructions. Our Online Support guide shows you how.

Hope this helps! If you do need any further support with your machine after giving this a try, please visit Dyson.com and click Support to get in touch with the right Dyson Customer Care team.

Thanks @Jack I will have a look at the guide and give it a go

Hi @jack I found the screw ok at the bottom of the clear plastic bit but I am not sure I have the right tool to loosen it.

I tried a normal ‘Phillips’ screwdriver without success and then tried the tools image attached but again none really seemed to fit and I didnt want to wreck the screw.

Can you advise on the right tool to remove the screw please?

Hi @Jack not sure if I pinged you in this thread right. Can you let me know about the tool to unscrew the screw please?

Hi @keithrevis,

Are you able to post a clear picture of the screw on your machine which holds the access cover in place? I was expecting this to be a crosshead screw, but if it isn’t, the T-15 head may be correct.

But I should be able to help verify this for you if I can see it.

Many thanks!

Hi @Jack

Here is a photo, hope it helps. I have seen this too https://shop.manchestervacs.co.uk/dyson-upright-vacuum-cleaner-spares/dc01-spares/dyson-torx-star-screwdriver-set

Hi @Jack any thoughts on the tool needed please?

Hi @keithrevis,

Sorry for the delay here!

Can I just check you’re looking at the correct side of your machine - the screw to remove is the one which holds the transparent plastic cover in place. With the machine facing you, this should be on the left hand side:

This should be a cross-head screw - if not, it would be the T-15 torx head shown in your picture.

@Jack success 😁

It was a T15 screw, not sure why I couldnt do it before. I removed the screw and the plastic cover. I then cleared out the tube which was nigh on blocked.

My hoover is as new with full suction restored.

Many thanks, can I give you extremely positive feedback somewhere?

Hi @keithrevis,
