dyson ontrac review and issues!! | Dyson Community

I’ve recently purchased the Dyson OnTrac and have been using them for 2 weeks now. I tried to look into reviews however most reviews were sponsored/promoted posts, so finding honest reviews was quite difficult. Couple concerns I have with the headphones are:

  1. sweat condensation build up in the inner ear cushion. I’m not sure if these are sweat proof but I found that when I removed the cushion, there seems to be a lot of condensation inside. Would this damage the headphones in the long run?

  2. Not the most comfortable headphones.  I personally couldn’t use this for more than 20 minutes before my ears would start to hurt and ache. I’m not sure if it’s the tightness of the headphones or the compression against my ears.

  3. The batteries and headband have fabric kind of material that would get dirty after a while. They’re not removable, so how would I clean them? Sweat, grease and hair products would probably build up on and make it dirty.

  4. switching between noise cancellation and transparency is a pain. The double tap isn’t very responsive and annoying to switch between modes. Have to press very hard and isn’t a nice experience hearing banging on your ears.

Despite the issues I would say that the sound quality and noise cancellation are great. The battery life and build quality is also amazing. However that should be expected considering the high price you’re having to pay.  I personally am not satisfied considering the issues and will be returning them.

sorry you are having issues. ive had the ontracs since launch and have used then very often. i dont use them in harsh environments so cant talk about how they handle those environments. i will say ive also have had the dyson zones since launch and have used them in hot environments, airplanes, outside, etc., and the ear cushions are in good /like new condition, as well as the head band. we all have different styles of hair, ears, so we all will have different experiences.

comfort - again we all have different heads, etc. i can wear the ontracs for hours -- even the zones, and they are quite a bit heavier than the ontracs. im used to heavier headphones as i used the AKG N90Q’s for years before moving to the dyson world. ive got more a “peanut” kinda head. ;-)

certainly if they are not comfy, maybe the ontracs arent for you. may i ask, what headphones were you using prior to these, and why did you move to the ontracs?

i think these headphones are very nice.  the ANC, battery life, sound, comfort are tops in my opinion.
