V7 pulsing when long tool is used | Dyson Community

My V7 pulses, ie goes on and off, when I use the long attachment but is fine with the hand tool. Ive replaced the filters and can’t find any blockages. It may be the battery but I’m reluctant to spend more money when it might not help, as the vacuum is only two years old.

I waited for ages in the queue and spoke to a guy who wasn’t helpful or interested. The machine is only a couple of months out of warranty and I expect more from such a premium brand. Any advice before I switch to a more reliable brand?

@Oxfordman Thanks for your post. Pulsing/Revving on the V7 is for sure not  a battery issue.

The good news is that the pulsing is a design feature - used to alert you that an airway is blocked somewhere. We can work through this together and go through all the places it could be.

1. Please load up and follow along with this video, which will guide you on most of the places to look - many of which may not be obvious.

2. Please check the bin inlet (this step is very important)

In the inlet the wand connects to the clear bin there is a tiny flap. Tilt the machine up and down while looking into the inlet. Does the flap open and close freely? If it's stuck, please remove and wash the bin and poke it with your finger until it moves freely. Make sure the bin is 100 percent dry before putting it back on.

This video can guide you in removing the bin:

3. Your V7 may have (1) or (2) washable filters, this video can guide you on washing them:

That should clear it up for you. If not, and this is very unlikely with V7, the “cyclone” part itself will need to be replaced and your local support can match you to the correct part.

Good luck.

Thank you. I did actually find and clear a blockage in the vacuum tool itself and it’s working again, though I think the battery is in need of replacement as well as it doesn’t have as much life as it used to, and dies if you use max power.
