Dyson Gen5outsize - Question regarding diatomaceous earth

Greetings,

I am currently having silverfish issues where I live (apartment) and one of the recommended products to use is diatomaceous earth.

While doing some research, I noticed that this was apparently really bad for vacuum cleaners (when you remove it).

I currently own a Dyson Gen5outsize and I would like to know if that vacuum will have issues and/or be damaged by diatomaceous earth before starting to apply it.

May I get your recommendations please?

Thank you in advance for your time and help, it is greatly appreciated.

Hi @Samus Aran,

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

Dyson vacuums are engineered for ordinary domestic use picking up dust, debris, pet hair and allergens.

As a precaution, we would advise against using your Dyson Gen5outsize™ vacuum to pick up diatomaceous earth as the machine hasn’t been engineered or tested for that purpose. Any damage caused may not be covered under your Dyson warranty.

Hope this helps!
