Wand for Built-in Dusting and Crevice Tool Not Locking | Dyson Community
Skip to main content

Hi everyone,

I received a new Dyson V15 Detect Absolute today as a replacement for a defective V15 I had sent back. Right out of the box the wand that connects to the new built-in dusting and crevice tool is not locking into place. The button remains depressed and if I lift the vacuum up, the wand will just slide off. I’ve use a bit of force to try and engage it but I don’t want to break anything.

Is there any trick to doing this? There was no noticeable obstructions and I didn’t see any damage to the clips inside the wand.

I’ve already called customer support but they were useless in troubleshooting besides acknowledging the issue. They suggested a replacement wand - but it’s out of stock - so I’m basically left without a working vacuum until the wand is back in stock. Could be several weeks, and I’ve already been waiting a month for the replacement for my original defective vacuum. 😑

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards,
B

Hi @w1nter,

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

Thanks for letting us know about this - this wouldn’t be a normal experience at all. The wand should reattach easily and securely when you’ve finished using the Built-in crevice and dusting tool.

To help pinpoint the cause we'll need our Customer Care experts to take you through some further troubleshooting checks when you have your Dyson V15 Detect™️ vacuum fully charged and easily to hand. If a replacement part or a repair is needed, they’ll be able to discuss your options with you.

Replacement part was apporved but is out of stock. I’m left with a defective vacuum right before the holidays. I’m stuck using a Shark vacuum that’s actually pretty good, and half the cost, in the meantime. It’s ridiculous that Dyson customer service can’t offer a solution for me. I’m never buying another new Dyson product due to multiple poor customer service issues. Shark or Miele for me next time...
