V11 Outsize pulsing on Eco and Normal modes but not on Boost mode | Dyson Community

Will Dyson help? Not via conventional support channels it seems.

I purchased a Dyson V11 Outsize for AU$1299 thinking that this larger than normal stick vacuum would be great for the family home...and last longer than a smaller, cheaper one. It was not a good purchase decision. It has started pulsing and then stopping while on Eco or Normal modes. It still works on Boost mode and the battery has plenty of life as Boost mode will run for nearly 10 minutes. I’ve completed the Dyson troubleshoots and there are no blockages. Suction on Boost mode is good, so there is free air flow. I’ve replaced the air filter for AU$50 from Dyson spare parts, but that didn’t work and seems like a waste of money (it turns out you can buy two for that price elsewhere!). I am certain there is no blockage and after reading a few articles online, it seems this is a main body electrical fault and requires a replacement main body. I’ve tried to contact Dyson for assistance on three occasions, without response. I seems like Dyson doesn’t want to know about this problem and probably won’t fix it either. I’m really disappointed as I’ve previously had two Dyson vacuum cleaners over the past 25 years, both of which lasted over 10 years. The V11 outsize is clearly not the same. I wouldn’t recomend buying a Dyson again. Their vacuum cleaners and customer service are not what they used to be.

Hi @Shane T,

Welcome to the Dyson Community, and thanks for letting us know about this.

I’ve reached out directly to take some further information. Please check your Dyson Community private message inbox and provide the details requested.

I’ll look forward to hearing from you.

Update to my previous post:

Dyson has identified the problem to be the base (motor unit) which requires replacement. A resolution to the problem is underway and I should be back up and running within the week.
