My wife really hates this machine as it constantly foams up and takes longer to clean the floors than a standard mop. She’s not using any detergents and actually vacuums before using the device. I’ve seen a few posts that this is common. Does anyone have a solution

There might be old residue from another mopping cleaning device used before on your floors that the G1 is washing off now. I would continue cleaning with just water and see if it is getting better over time.
