This evening our purifier cooler spiked over 250 on PM2.5 and PM10. I put it on full blast and it’s coming down again but what could have caused this? All we did was a bit of cooking (gas cooker) but that’s not unusual and it’s never spiked to severe before now. Could something have happened to our appliances that caused it perhaps?
I think you have this - My machine/App shows a 999 Severe reading, what do I do? | Dyson Community.

If there is nothing in the environment that could be causing this, it is usually due to a blockage in the machines sensor port(s).
We suggest cleaning the sensors as per the ‘Cleaning the sensor’ article.
Further instructions on cleaning the machine can be found in the user guide and directly in the App under 'Using your machine' and then choosing 'Cleaning your machine'.
If this reading is still showing after cleaning the sensor and the machine, we’d suggest following the information in the 'Power Cycling/Restarting' your machine article.
