Can a normal electrician fix the dyson hairdryer, stopped working not long after warranty ended and it seems to be the powered cord but I'm not paying £99 to dyson for a repair after paying £300 already.

Hi
Outside the free 2-year Dyson parts and labour guarantee, any spare parts or servicing needed for your machine would be chargeable - it sounds like you’ve already spoken with our Customer Care team about this.
We’re not in a position to recommend third party repair services, as we can only offer assurances of the quality and safety of repairs carried out by genuine Dyson service engineers.
Hope this helps!
I wouldn’t bother with the service/repair for £99.
Just had my wife’s hairdryer back completely untouched, oh actually it was touched because someone had put a sticker on it but left the residue and white bits on it when sent back.
After speaking to someone in India we are awaiting a refund. Otherwise I’ll be speaking to my mate Matt Allwright from RT.
