Complaint. HD01 Hairdryer | Dyson Community
Skip to main content

I have owned a HD01 hairdryer since xmas 2019.  I wash my hair about twice a week and have always cleaned the filter before each use.  Recently the power has been cutting out when using the highest heat setting. I rang to get it serviced and was told they would only speak to my husband, he then had to call to state that he was happy for you to  speak to me, so on my second call I was told that you could arrange to collect and would look at it but it would cost me £100, which would be returned to me if you couldnt fix it.  I had my last relatively cheap hair dry for 8 years, it was only replaces because of this rather nice xmas present.  3.5 years is not nearly long enough as a life span for this piece of equipment to last.  I am truly disappointed at the extortionate cost of getting someone to look at it, it is clear that the static metal filter screen needed a clean, this must be a common problem!

I brought a dyson screwdriver set from Amazon, and have cleaned it myself; it took me 30 mins in total.

This hairdryer although lively is not worth the cost, the filter is not adequate and it is disgusting for you to charge £100 for a service.

Hi @SharonBatten,

Welcome to the Dyson Community, and thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

We engineer our machines to last, and the Dyson Supersonic™️ hair dryer is no exception. As long as the inner and outer sections of the intake filter are regularly cleaned to keep them free of dust, hair fibres and particles of styling products, we wouldn’t expect any issues.

In the event of you choosing to arrange a service for your machine outside of the free 2-year guarantee period, this would be chargeable at £99. The cost covers transit, labour and replacement parts. Any work carried out is also covered for a further 12 months following the repair.

I’m glad to hear in this instance you’ve been able to avoid the need for a service by thoroughly cleaning the inner intake mesh.

I’ll be happy to pass your comments along to the right people for you. If you’d like to discuss your concerns further I’d encourage you to continue your conversation with Dyson Customer Care in your region as they’ll be best placed to offer advice.

The design of the HD01 is clearly not fit for purpose;

in more recent models its been changed, I suspect for this precise reason.

Rather me having to contact the customer care team, it’d be better customer service for them to contact me.
Overall Im very dissatisfied with the hairdryer longevity and Dyson customer service in this instance.
