North America Airwrap in Portugal - Have I damaged it by using a universal adaptor?

Hello, I’m currently travelling in Portugal from N. America. I brought a universal adaptor, plugged in my airwrap, tried to turn it on, it did not turn on or make a noise or do anything at all.
I understand now the universals adaptor won’t work or there’s mixed answers…
Did I already damage my Airwrap?

Afraid so darlin! I’d be inclined to say that you’ve either overloaded the plug or damage it. You might of course be super lucky, it might just start up again when you’re back stateside.

America operates on 120V and 60Hz. Most of Europe use variation of 230V and 50Hz. If it were to switch on, it would overload. More reasonable to think the unit refused to operate due to the increase in voltage. You won’t know for sure until you’ve returned to the US.
