Poor - little advice given by Dyson customer Services - Please share advice on using a cordless in my home! | Dyson Community

I have loved my Dyson vacuums (5 of them) and when I want a new one, I donate the one I have to someone that needs one.  Earlier this year I called CS about my cordless V8 Absolute, I was going to buy a new one but the gentleman said I could just replace the battery, Awesome, so I purchased it and it arrived in less than 2 weeks.  BUT…….in June I decided I wanted to know more about the Gen5 and the difference in the ones on the website and general other questions.  I take care of a disabled parent, a handicap spouse, 3 large dogs that shed,  aaarrrggghhh, 5 long haired cats and 3 litter boxes.  I have hard floors and some area rugs and you can be assured that my dogs don’t just shed but bring in lots of dirt and in the winter dead grass after rolling on it.  The first CS person could not quite get his facts right when I ask questions and kept confusing me cause he kept calling the machines something different than what they are called on the website.  I could barely understand him through his Asian accent, so thank you bye!    So I called back.  Another CS with a thick Asian accent.  I ask him some questions and told him what my challenges are in my house and whatever I said he just agreed with, by the time he got done with me, I decided I would just go back to the website and figure it out the best I could.  I was reading all the reviews on the Gen5 and noticed that some said that a machine was, ( I am very grateful for being chosen to participate in receiving the cordless for free in return for an honest review) and others that were provided other incentives for their review.  So I emailed and asked if I could get in on something like that since I’m worried that a cordless won’t handle my disaster like a full size machine and I could give a great review of how the Gen5 worked for me.  I got a response from Mohammd and then from someone named Sukhdev and Ananthoju, (I can’t even pronounce those names, could I understand them if I had called?) that somewhat stated that they don’t to that.  Here’s the thing, I don’t mind buying it, but after those 2 calls and those 3 emails and reading some of the reviews regarding Dyson’s CS, I’m not sure if I still feel comfortable with this brand.  Can someone give me some reassuring words, what should I do?  Try it anyway, hope I don’t need service?

I think they outsource care calls now. The service seems very less and less. I hope they can fix it soon! I have see the moderators say that they are feeding back as much as possible. A waiting game as they say! To my mind, if you are opted into marketing emails, they would invite you to participate. They don’t allow entry for anyone and you must be invited. I have’t seen reviews of people getting to keep, I thought they returned it.

Dyson in Italy, if you buy over the website, they’ll give you a return window. No questions. Here I can try and then return if I do not like. I think this option is world wide no? Maybe check their website for details.

Overlooking the passive aggression, as everyone is allowed their own opinion. With the size of home, pets and hair, if you’re keen on a stick vac, their outsize range would be my recommendation. Larger bin capacity, cleaner head and boasting between 40-60mins runtime. I agree with @Maria23. Taking advantage of distant selling and the returns window, this is the only way you can ‘Trial’ the Dyson. And see if it’s right for your needs.

Hi @sshoreland

Thanks for letting us know about this - Dyson are always challenge themselves to offer the highest levels of service, so I can only apologise for the experience you’ve had so far and the mis-information you had received. If you can drop me a DM, with your country and the number you used to contact Dyson, I can ensure your feedback is shared with the relevant departments.

As for a recommendation as to which vacuums would be best, I feel this is a perfect use case for the Dyson ‘Help me Choose’ option. Here you’ll be prompted to answer 4 on-screen questions, which focus on your individual needs and requirements. Once completed, you’ll be presented with 3 recommendations. It is then down to you to select the one you feel best meets your other criteria.

I hope this helps.

Stuart
