Problems with the V15 Detect Absolute

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can give me any insight. I just bought the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute and I have 2 big problems with it.

  1. When I use them on my rugs, they try sucking up the rugs and then the vacuum shuts off. I do not have thick or long haired rugs and I have tried all the power suction settings. One rug is a ruggable if that helps to understand the kind. It’s pretty thin, lightweight and it’s attached to the base so it’s not like it’s moving around.
  2. When I use the vacuum under my dining table and chairs, the vacuum head does not stay flush to the ground. When I reach under the tables the vacuum head stays sticking up in the air so it doesn’t clean how it should.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Hi @mjdenny,

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

If your machine is being used on a very densely-woven or rubber-backed rug which doesn’t allow a lot of airflow into the cleaner head, it may cause excessive resistance which leads the brush bar motor to shut off for protection. We’d recommend using your machine on the lowest power setting, and also using the red suction control slider to open the debris gates on the cleaner head to allow more airflow into the machine.

Your second point sounds unusual, and to help pinpoint the cause we'll need our Customer Care experts to take you through some further troubleshooting checks when you have your Dyson V15 Detect™ vacuum fully charged and easily to hand. If a replacement part is needed, they’ll be able to discuss your options with you.
