I just got the animal ball three, but the there is no suction in the wand and hose at any time. Having previously owned a Dyson ball in London, I’m surprised at this experience in the US.
How do I go about resolving this?

This sounds like an unusual issue, especially from a brand new machine. As you’ve mentioned, when standing in the upright position, the automatic changeover valve should divert the suction to the hose and wand.
If the machine is new, it’s unlikely the issue would be due to a blockage, filters overdue for a wash, or a damaged component.
