Dyson Zone still unable to connect to LHDC | Dyson Community
Skip to main content

After some more attempts at getting my phone to recognize the LHDC codec on the Zone all my attempts have failed. My device does support LHDC and I have seen it connect to other audio devices with LHDC so I'm a bit lost on what to do. I know that there are some devices that require you to enable LHDC in their app but the MyDyson doesn't have that option either. My device should be able to detect and use that codec but for some reason the Zone is the only one that refuses to show me options apart from SBC and AAC.

Hey boss,  can you tell me what phone you're using? And is that the developer options tab?

Are you using a 3rd party music player?

One of the photos is indeed from developer options and the other is just from the normal Bluetooth settings of the headphones. I'm currently using the Oppo Find N3 as my daily driver.

ive got both the zones and ontrac. i have a 16 pro max 1tb and z fold 6 1tb. both unlocked. neither device is compatible with this codec from what i was able to find. i did see the ontracs and zones are supposed to be compatible with this codec on the lhdc website. i wish i could be of some help. :(

Yeah the weird thing is that my device is supposed to support the LHDC codec so it's a bit frustrating to see that it's not showing up as a selectable option

Hi @sheetsheets,

I’ve been looking into this for you with our Audio engineering team. They’ve asked if you can confirm -

  • What is the exact model of phone and the OS version? There are different variants of Oppo Find N3.
  • Have you connected your Dyson Zone headphones, then tried to switch it to LHDC from the developer settings?

Hi @Jack

My device is currently running Android 14 and I've tried changing the codec to LHDC in the developer settings but will always revert back to AAC once I exit and the options in the regular bluetooth settings still doesn't show a LHDC option.

I forgot to mention that my Oppo Find N3 is from Taiwan, we only have 1 option here with 2 colors to choose from

Hi @sheetsheets,

Thanks for providing this info!

Our engineering team are looking into this for you - I’ll come back to update when I have further information to share.

Thanks for your patience in the meantime!

Hi @sheetsheets,

One further question from the team about your comment quoted above - are you able to confirm which other audio devices with LHDC you’ve seen it connect to - are these Oppo-manufactured audio devices?

Many thanks!

I've contacted Oppo before and they said it should connect to third party devices. I've tried pairing my friend's Nothing Ear 2a, but I had to go into the Nothing app to enable LHDC, but it did work after enabling that option

Hi @sheetsheets,

Is this Nothing Ear 2 or 2a - as Nothing Ear 2a does not support LHDC?

Oppo has a whitelisting mechanism for third-party headsets which should be fixed in the newer Color OS version (Android 15 based).

Please can we ask you to try updating your phone, and to get back in touch with us here if you continue to have difficulties?

Android 15 isn't available for my device yet so I'll wait until then and see if that resolves my issue
