Natural light cycles globally change according to time, date, and location. This is because of the earth’s rotation, its axial tilt, and its orbital path around the sun.

To account for all these variables, Dyson came up with a unique GPS driven algorithm. That could output colour and intensity for any location on the planet, at any time of the year and at any time of the day. To validate this, Dyson used data samples from over a million real world measurements.

The result of this is, that wherever you live, as your daylight changes outside, the task lighting changes with it. It calculates the colour temperature and brightness of your daylight, every 60 seconds, which gives you the right light for the time of day.

To get started with customising this feature, you’ll have to set your light’s home location. With your machine connected to the Dyson App, simply navigate to the home-screen, and press the settings icon in the top right. Then select ‘Your light’s configuration’. This process is highlighted in our ‘Setting your light’s home location’ article.
