Don’t let anyone convince you that the problem lies in your scalp, your hair, or your hair care/styling products. The only thing you need to know is: something is definitely wrong with Dyson hair dryers.
I bought my Dyson hair dryer in 2020 and was initially thrilled. After the first use, my hair looked silky, smooth, and well-styled. But that joy didn’t last long. Three years later, the dryer started making my hair look greasy, dirty, and unwashed immediately after styling.
At first, I thought maybe something was wrong with my shampoo or conditioner - or maybe I wasn’t rinsing them out properly. I tested countless hair products, but no matter what I used, the result was the same: greasy, heavy, oily-looking hair right after using the Dyson. For over a year, I kept searching for the root of the problem, even went to a trichologist. The diagnosis? My scalp and hair were perfectly healthy, with no excess oil production.
Still, I didn’t want to believe the issue could be my very expensive hair dryer.
So I did an experiment over several days, alternating between my Dyson and a basic, no-name hair dryer. On days when I used the Dyson (no styling products, just clean hair), the results were awful: flat, oily-looking hair that clung to my scalp. But when I used the cheap dryer? My hair looked fresh, voluminous, clean, and light. I repeated the experiment using styling and heat protection products. Again, the Dyson ruined everything, while the basic dryer performed perfectly.
And before anyone says “it’s the heat that affects sebum production” - that’s just not true. The Dyson uses moderate temperatures and no hot air, while the cheap dryer doesn’t even have a temperature setting, yet it dried my hair beautifully without making it look dirty.
Honestly, I’m deeply disappointed that such an expensive product couldn’t even last three years without causing issues. I regret spending so much money and time trying to figure out what was wrong with my hair, when the real issue was the tool I trusted the most. I absolutely do not recommend wasting your money on this dryer.
P.S. I’m not alone - several of my friends experienced the exact same issue and also deeply regret buying the Dyson.
