I’ve checked high and low for this answer but can’t seem to find what I’m looking for.
The digital motorbar occasionally stops when hoovering my carpet on the gen5 detect. I have to turn the machine off and back on to start it up again.
I’m assuming it is related to the + and - options on the head. Can anyone please tell me what they indicate so I can choose the correct setting?

Your Dyson Gen5detect™ vacuum’s Motorbar cleaner head will shut off for protection if the rotating brush bar detects excessive resistance on certain floor types. Adjusting the red suction control slider on the cleaner head to the ‘-’ position should help with this by fully opening the large debris gates on the front of the cleaner head, and allowing additional airflow into the machine.
You can also use the power control switch underneath the LCD screen to further reduce the power if needed - as shown in our Getting started guide:
