Dyson V7 Animal brush head not working

The bar spins but stops as soon as it is placed on the floor. i have followed all the steps in the troubleshooting guide but nothing obvious. Customer services tell me it needs a new motorhead. I’m reluctant to pay £80 for the spare as I’m not sure this would solve the problem. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Hi @Dydust,

If your motorised cleaner head is free of blockages or tangled threads or hair, but the brush bar stops rotating as soon as it encounters resistance on the carpet, and you’ve not been able to resolve the issue through maintenance or troubleshooting, then this suggests it needs replacing.

Of course, it would be your decision whether to replace it or not.

Hi @Dydust,

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

If you’ve already followed all of our troubleshooting and maintenance steps to check the rotating brush bar isn’t being obstructed by a blockage or by tangled threads and hair, it does sound likely the issue lies with the motorhead itself.

Keep in mind you’re able to return the replacement cleaner head within 14 days for a refund if you find it doesn’t resolve the issue.

Thank you for your reply. i do not understand why the brush bar spins then stops on the floor, suggesting that it hasn’t failed?

Thank you. It would seem that a replacement is needed then. What is the part number please? The model is Dyson V7 Animal +
