occasionnally not much water being collected in dirty tank G1

I have had the g1 one month and am happy with it. However a couple times I have found that even though the floor is wet and cleaned there is no water being collected in the dirty tank. It happened today even though I had used the mop normally , I left it for a few minutes and went back to it. No water was collected. Then I did a self clean and no water was collected at all during the self clean. I put water on the floor, mopped it and then it worked fine. I did the self cleaning again and it worked. Is this normal? Did I do something wrong or is it the machine? Thanks

I have contacted them and they’ve advised me to use water only as I was putting a drop of non foaming cleaning product as per allowed in the instructions . This seems to have solved all my problems. Maybe the instructions should be changed as all the Dyson people I have talked to on the phone have said that using any sort of product could damage the machine and using water really was what is recommended.

Hi @Mamancreole,

Thanks for the update, I’m glad to hear you’ve found a resolution for this issue. You’re welcome to get back in touch with the Dyson Customer Care team directly if you have any concerns about this in future.

Just to clarify though, it’s not a problem to use low-foaming antibacterial household detergent in your Dyson WashG1™ wet cleaner, as long as it’s correctly diluted. Apologies if you were misadvised on this point - you can find out more here:
