Dyson V12 Slim Detect turn off after a few seconds

Hi everyone,

I have a Dyson V12 Slim Detect, and I’ve been experiencing an issue where it switches off after just a few seconds of use. This problem started several months ago, but at that time, I could sometimes get it to work by turning it on multiple times. However, now it won’t stay on at all no matter how many times I try.

I’ve already checked the battery charge, cleaned the filters, and inspected for blockages, but the issue persists. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on what I should try next?

Thanks in advance for any help!

This is a known issue to Dyson, and it’s a problem with the mainboard of the unit. It’s a manufacturing flaw. The only solution is to replace the body, which is why there are no replacement bodies available on their parts section of the website for out of warranty devices.

For in warranty devices, customer service said they don’t have warranty replacements in stock but I could send mine back and await fulfillment. You can read how well that goes here for others. You’ll wait a couple weeks and a couple more, and be without a vacuum the whole time. It’s really unfortunate how Dyson is handling the flaws on this model.

It’s not an unusual issue. It’s a known issue on the V12 Detect Slims, which is why there are no parts available for customers to purchase. I’d gladly spend $129 to purchase a new body from Dyson but they have been Out of Stock for over a year now.
