I have accidentally unclipped cover on the base of bin of DC54 whilst cleaning out dust and hair. Is there an easy way to reattach please?

Hi @SLC

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

Here are a couple of steps you can check on your Dyson to clean the bin and cyclone, and reattach them:

  • Remove the bin from the machine by pressing the bin release catch located to the side of the bin.resolve image
  • Check the openings of the duct and bin for any blockages and remove as necessary.resolve image
  • When the bin lid is open, a small silver button behind the red opening mechanism should be exposed. Press the silver button.
  • Separate the cyclone unit from the clear bin.resolve image
  • Clean the cyclone shroud with a cloth or the Combination tool to remove lint and dust.
WARNING: Do not use water.resolve image                                  WARNING: Do not wash the cyclone.
  • Reassemble and test machine.

Here is the reference video that can help you resolve the issue https://youtu.be/rn1TCvCJKS4?si=O5-KfiOzvjpVlQla.These simple checks should help rule out any obvious issues, and it may be possible to resolve this on the spot!

Thanks Jannat. I have had the cleaner for  many years!

The issue is that the hinge of the cover has come off the adjoining hinge of the bin. Being plastic the hinge has no flexibility. How do you reconnect without forcing and breaking the nodules.

So the answer is probably not specific to Dysons, rather a generic how-to of reclipping plastic hinges on any appliance carefully, without breaking it.
