She uses a leaf blower to clean the cordless Dyson

Hi Need some help here. I use the cordless vac each day for 15 minutes mostly on auto mode, never boost. It’s not brand new - maybe 3 years old or so. The three bars at first (2 months ago) were only one half bar used by end. Now, a full bar used at end. There are 2 extra  dogs here opposed to the two she has. I’m told I ruined the battery. Next, the seal is damaged (leaking) my fault. Could a seal go bad from her using a leaf blower to clean the canister etc out? Blower is used maybe every few days for however long she has had the vac. Also, how long does a seal last? The suction is fine. I clean out the bin twice each time I vac (lots of dander, dust and hair). She was vacuuming her car on a windy day and said the dust came from the seal bad. Could I really have ruined the seal somehow and exactly what would it take to ruin it? Twice when I tried to open the trap, the bar went all the way through. I was told that was bad too. Accident! Thanks.

Hi @ningla,

Thanks for getting back to me!

Please provide us with an image of the damaged seal for further assistance. Moreover, Dyson suggests cleaning the vacuum using safer methods, such as:

  1. Emptying the dust bin: Remove and empty the bin regularly to maintain suction power.

  2. Cleaning the filter: Wash the filter under cold water and let it dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.

  3. Removing debris from the brush bar: Use a soft brush or your hands to clear tangled hair or dirt.

Also, the machine has three power modes for different tasks. The overall run time will vary between each of the three power modes.

Eco mode: Up to 60 minutes

Med/Auto mode: Up to 40 minutes

Boost mode: Up to 10 minutes

The overall run time can increase and decrease depending on the power mode and tool being used.

Attach your High torque cleaner head to activate Auto/Med mode, which automatically adapts power between carpets and hard floors.

Please confirm, Is the machine working as expected?

Hello Aastha, I believe it is a V11… could be V8 since it looks 3 years old or so. It’s out of warranty. She wants to blame me for a lot of things that aren’t true. But if I caused harm I want to know. I read on a Quora forum response don’t use a leaf blower to clean out dust. Use an air compressor instead. I always used an air compressor. Thank you for help!

I think it does. It pulls a lot of dust that we have out here. I have no idea what seal she is talking about so not sure what to photograph. I use the vac mostly on auto and then eco on certain rugs that are thick. My run time is 10-15 minutes. Is a full bar used considered a battery that is going out? When I first started staying here it used up a half bar and she was complaining.
